WHAT WE BELIEVE

SCRIPTURE

We believe the entire bible is the inspired Word of God and that the authors were moved by the Holy Spirit to write the content.  God has supernaturally preserved the bible.  It is, therefore, the final authority for faith and full of encouragement, comfort, and guidance for life.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

TRINITY

We believe in one true God eternally existing in three distinct persons--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Each is fully and equally God, possessing all of the divine nature and attributes.

(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 1:14; John 10:30; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

GOD THE FATHER

We believe that God the Father is the eternal, unchanging, all-powerful, all-knowing, all-wise, all-loving, completely just, and sovereign ruler and sustainer of the universe.

(Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 40:21-28; Isaiah 43:10-13; John 1:12-13; John 5:19-21; Romans 8:14-16; Ephesians 4:6)

GOD THE SON

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten eternal Son of God who became flesh to reveal God to man, too fulfill prophecy, and to become the savior of the world.  In becoming human, Jesus did not cease in any way to be God so that He is fully God and fully man inseparably united in one person.  Jesus was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirt, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the substitutionary, all-sufficient atoning sacrifice for humanity, was buried, bodily rose from the dead, ascended into heaven in his glorified body, and will come again to Earth in bodily form, personally and visibly, to conclude human history and consummate God’s eternal plan by executing judgment and ushering in his kingdom reign.
(Matthew 24:44; Mark 10:45; Luke 1:30-35; John 1:1,14,18; John 3:16; Acts 1:11; Acts 2:22-24; Romans 3:25-26; Philippians 3:20-21; Colossians 2:3,9; Hebrews 5:5-14; Revelation 19:11-21)

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is the primary agent for the conviction of sin and for regeneration.  Simultaneously with new birth, the Holy Spirit imparts new life, baptizes the believer into the body of Christ (his church), permanently indwells the believer, and securely seals the believer unto the day of redemption.  The Holy Spirit fills those believers who yield to him, enables believers to bear fruit, and empowers believers to live a life free from sin’s dominion.  We believe the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to believers for the purpose of building his church.

(John 16:7-8; Romans 8:5-13; 1 Corinthians 13:8; 1 Corinthians 12:13; 1 Peter 4:10-11)

HUMANITY

We believe that people are created in the image of God and did not come into existence as the result of evolution.  We are created by God to glorify Him, to have a personal relationship with Him, and to worship and gladly serve Him.  Humanity fell through sin, resulting in both physical and spiritual death.  Human nature was thus corrupted and we are utterly lost, alienated from God, and totally incapable of saving ourselves.

(Genesis 1:26; Genesis 2:6,17; Genesis 3:17-24; Isaiah 59:1-2; Romans 3:9-19,23; Luke 18:26-27; Ephesians 2:13)

SATAN

We believe Satan is a real being and not simply the personification of evil.  He is a fallen angel who, under the permission of God, has been given temporary rulership of the earth.  God will execute final judgment on Satan one day, casting him into the eternal lake of fire.  In the meantime, Satan deceives the world and seeks to establish his counterfeit kingdom on earth, blasphemes the One True God, and tempts, accuses, and attacks believers.

(Genesis 3:1-5; Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:11-19; 2 Corinthians 11:14; 1 Timothy 3:6; 1 Peter 5:8-9; Revelation 12:9; Revelation 20:1-3)

SALVATION

We believe the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for forgiveness of sins and salvation, which is the free gift of God's grace.  Salvation is affected by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit and cannot be secured by human work or merit.  Salvation is only experienced by a person placing his/her faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.  The gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, and those who trust Jesus by faith are born again--becoming children of God and are sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption, being kept by the power of God.

(Matthew 28:18-20; John 15:8,16; Romans 6:11-13; Galatians 2:20; Ephesians 2:10; Colossians 1:10; 1 Peter 1:15-16; 1 Peter 4:10-11)

THE CHURCH

We believe the Church is the body of Christ of which Jesus is the head and whose members are those who have truly trusted Christ by faith.  The local church is a tangible expression of the body of Christ in a particular location.  Since all members of the body of Christ are united in Christ by the same Spirit, they should live in loving harmony and unity.  The purpose of the church is to make Christ known and make disciples, both of which glorify God's grace.

(John 17; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 4:1-6; Colossians 1:24-29; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27)
